How do you remove nitrates from water?

Nitrates can be reduced with nitrate-selective anion exchange or a properly designed reverse osmosis system. The right approach depends on the nitrate concentration, household demand, other ions in the water, and whether treatment is needed at one faucet or throughout the property.

Boiling does not remove nitrate and may increase its concentration as water evaporates. Any nitrate treatment system should be followed by regular testing to confirm that it continues to perform as prescribed.
